I'm dispensing with the show B.S. because msb is on hiatus.
I am enjoying the economic news like nobody's business. Its all melting down; nothing is worth a damn; banks have stopped lending money; the consumers and firms have seen their assets shrink to bankruptcy levels and the economy is a game of dominoes.
The government is nationalizing Fanny and Freddy and Lehman, and AIG. And the leftists are screwed (or the US tax payers.)
The economic malaise can be described as privatizing gain and socializing loss. And everybody knows it. The policies which led us into this debacle are the result of optimism in flying in the face of reality.
Greed unfettered always get into the same shit by constantly and relentlessly pushing the outside edge of the envelope. Always.
Its just human nature.
Capitalism, for its own good, is always trying to get beyond its own good. The crisis on Wall Street and Paternoster Square in London and Frankfurt am Main in Germany, and ... and ...
That the socialists get the reins of power for a while and, after a period of deep caca where they manage to piss off everybody, the reins of power get loosened enough to start the whole mess over again.
It always happens.
And when it is not allowed to happen, empires crumble.

I admit it. I am a communicating fool.
The Beeb was running an article [ http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/7622191.stm ] about how MS may be more prevalent than previously thought.
I was depressed at the description of the level of misunderstanding about MS.
Pardon me for waxing lyrical and poetic on you, but as Shakespeare had "Marullus" say in "Julius Caesar": "You blocks, you stones, you worse than senseless things."
There are over 5 million people with MS world wide and there are about 6 billion people who either know enough to be a danger to others or seem to know nothing about anything.
Gad, people's ignorance, willful ignorance, is such an overwhelming weight on themselves, on their own backs; it makes me weep for us as a species.

I am writing again because of this strange compunction I have to "run off at the fingertips" and type/talk to somebody, anybody (and lucky you, you actually downloaded this episode so you're "it".)
I was wondering what I would do for an internship in communication studies when I caught (and scrawled down in my nearly intelligible hand scribbling,) something that my professor had said.
Hmmm... I just wondered if I could do it...

Part of getting what you really want out of life comes from from knowing what you really want.
I am very strange that way. I have "always" known what I wanted out of life (I know this makes me unusual...) I just never know what this knowledge is going to bring or what its going to cost.
I took the professor's remark, which was made in an off-handed way during an aside in class, searched on the internet (because, as my wife likes to say: "the web knows all",) found the company he'd mentioned, found their interactive arm and determined that either they "didn't" know about podcasting, (which was an opportunity because they needed "edjumacatin' ",) or they "did" know about podcasting but weren't sure about its potential and, as "Alan Kay" said years ago, "the best way to predict the future is to invent it" or at least find out about it first hand and close.
Either way, I would be able to intern, get some credits, get some knowledge, get some experience, get my name known out there and mayby figure out how to get advertisers for this podcast.
Since it would cost the firm nothing except some reporting requirements to have me as an intern and would actually earn them some cred (and a few bucks from the gummint to boot,) I figured that this would be an easy cajole.
What did I have that could possibly of use to them?
Years of experience in podcasting.
Years of thinking about the possibilities and limitations of podcasting.
Year of experience with the various technologies of podcasting both from the content side (audio production) and the delivery side (RSS, XML, internet/web transmission.)

In case there's anybody out there wondering... I've gone back to college.
I'm 55, unemployed, mobility-challenged, unemployable, no matter what Momentum says about the ADA, so ... what the heck?
It beats sitting 'round here with my thumb up my ass.
MSBPodcast is on hiatus.
I will return to podcasting as soon as I have deepened my knowledge of the broadcasting world.
To be honest, it was incredibly unrewarding. Caught between too little feedback and a total lack of interest by the people who are supposed to be helping us, in their own captive community of customers, I got preoccupied with other concerns.
I'm continuing this podcast as soon as I graduate and recapture interest in doing it.
Who knows? Maybe I'll get to run somebody's ad. (Beyond the one I'm carrying for Joel Goodman's book.)
So in parting:
