msb-0095 X-Mas Filler 01

msb-0095 X-Mas Filler 01

There's going to be three shows, including this one, filled with music only, while I'm gone to my sister's, brother-in-law's, niece's, grand-nephew's and all of the assorted relations.

I'm reading this extremely interesting book called "This Is Your Brain on Music. The Science of a Human Obsession" by "Daniel J. Levitin". I'll have a report on it and the science behind it when we resume our (ir-)regularly schedule.

I'm also working on something large concerning advertising, our collective relation with it, our specific relationship with it and my relationship with it. I figure this will break up three upcoming shows with my banter and blather.

Feedback and MDMHvonPA's Roundups will have to wait until the new year.

Until then, I'll be pushing for the ol' "Red White and Blue".

This episode, its Red. :-)

Hello "have Myelin",

the book "Your Brain on Music" is a killer read.

Its well written, no, make that very well written.

Despite using the right names for all of the parts or the brain, and therefore fitting my definition for jargon laden, the book manages to fit in where the parts are, and their relationships are to each other.

And it does all this while describing what the neural wiring does and on a parallel track describing what the perceptual effects are.

I'm still only about 3/4 of the way through the book (give me a break, I'm not a brain surgeon so the terms are unfamiliar and, besides, I'm supposed to be on vacation, [or holiday, or whatever it's called, :-] vegging out and relaxing out at my sister's house.)

Give me some further feedback on what you thought of the book when you've had a chance to read through it.
