msb-0221 Nothing Yet

msb-0221 Nothing Yet...

intro

Feedback comes first, so...

There's nothing new to report, so I'll shut up. :-)

Feed Forward comes next, so...

This is "your" segment.

Say "your" piece on this segment.

I've just heard on the Australian Broadcasting podcast Science Show [ http://www.abc.net.au/rn/scienceshow/ ] a segment about amusia, or tone deafness, and how it seems to be related to the spatial ability that are a part of every IQ test out there.

People who suffer from amusia (but not as much as their audience at a karaoke bar, :-) are actually exhibiting some, uh, faulty wiring in their right hemisphere. (That is something that I actually worry about developing because of this disease.. [I have absolutely "no" singing voice, {I hate the very sound of my voice.} but I have excellent spatial skills, near perfect pitch and excellent musical listening ability. {I just don't play anymore, sigh...}])

That is partly why I'm a lousy driver when I start the car. I have to be driving a little while before I re-establish a sense of "soma" incorporating my car.

And I would apreciate if someone could write a review of this podcast on iTunes [ http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=120932170 ] You can just select the link and, eventually, scroll down the iTunes page to "Customer Reviews"

Feed Me comes third, so...

Do you have a therapy, product, good or service that is of interest to MSers?

Consider advertising on this podcast.

Reminders on this segment only cost $0.03 per reminder per download of an episode. (A $30CPM targeted at MSers.)

It can/should lead to a full ad, in text, audio or video, which costs $3.00 per download.

That sounds expensive until you do the math and realize that if nobody downloads it it costs you nothing, unlike print, where you often can't even get an ad in to the specialized journals, or radio or TV where you'd just be wasting your money with the 0.0833% MSers rate of return. (That's about six times "below" the level of "statistical noise".)

But MSBPodcast is 100% in your market, and you only pay per download of your material.

No play, no pay.

Reach the MSers who would buy your therapy, product, good or service, with-out having to waste your advertising money on anyone who is "not" interested...

"Thesis:"

Nope there's no response from the unfortunate thousands of reader of Momentum.

And I'm not expecting any, yet. What do you think I am, "Stupid or sumtin?"

These things take time do develop and grow.

"Synthesis:"

No Rome was not built in a day.

But this is part of the plan; my plan to build a network of special, really special, interest 'casts dedicated to MS for and by MSers, and others dedicated at special interest groups formed around the diseases that afflict 15% or the world's population.

I'm not out for world domination, but I am out to free us all from the tyranny of demographics which places us against the 85% of the population that prefers to ignore us.

Here at MSBPodcast, we, the 0.0833 % of the world's population, well, we're 100% of the audience.

The demographics of the rest of the world are no longer relevant.

We're in charge here.

We're in charge now.

We're in charge of this slice of the podcast media.

And we're not giving it up, no way, no how.

Yes, I may one of "Voltaire's Bastards," [ http://www.amazon.com/Voltaires-Bastards-Dictatorship-Reason-West/dp/0679748199 ] one of "Marchall McLuhan's" [ http://www.marshallmcluhan.com/ ] minions and one sick bugger, in more ways that one, but that means nothing to me in my mission of creating a space in the media where we can get text or audio or video and some news of things that matters to "us!"

And national boundaries don't mean a thing.

But linguistics barriers do, which is why I've reached out to Dutch and Greek MSers and I'm still reaching out to any others MSers out there from other linguistic groups.

"Conclusion:"

So no, I don't expect an instantaneous uptake and advertisers to come-a-knockin' on my door.

The "'Build a better mouse trap and the world will beat a path to your door.' Ralph Waldo Emerson" crap just does not cut it in the modern business world.

But what
might just work out is a slow, incremental increases of the subscriber-ship and audience over the coming months and getting the atttention of the people who produce drugs, products and therapies for MS about using MSBPodast to spread the word about their stuff.

Heh ... many a better mouse trap has been forsaken for slick advertising. Amiga, Mac ... AC Electric ... Flat Tax ...

AC Electric?

You must mean Nikolas Tesla old Alternating Current (and broadcastable) electric power versus DV Current.

I remember (but not directly :-) the battle that he waged with Edison about power transmission of electricity.

Of course he was right and Edison was wrong, but by the time it was necessary to transmit power that far, Edison had already dragged Tesla's name through the mud that Edison's name was all that anyone remembered.

As for the Amiga vs Mac, the Mac lost that battle quite handily ... (I remember the Amiga OS quite well as it was actually the first object-oriented OS worthy of the name [except for an implementation of UNIX* done on machines at Xerox [the same folks who brought you GUIs, PDFs, LANs, Ethernet networking and O-O [first in some language I must confess to not remembering right now** {Mesa, it was called Mesa!}. and then in Smalltalk-80. {Though Smalltalk owes a lot to Simula, Pascal and Logo from back in 1972 when Smalltalk originated.}])

Flat tax? You must be joking...

There are two opposing forces in politics, those who want a graduated tax scheme and the few (like less than one percent of the people,) who are fighting against it, but who can buy their (I'm can believe I'm typing this with a straight face,) uh, elected representatives.

Gawd. I loved being dragged back down memory lane like that.

Thanks.

* It was a real revelation that the Smalltalk version took 4 inches to printout while the C version tool 4 FEET!

** It was later upgraded to Postscript which later was in competition with HP GL. But HP GL is only good for formating output, while PS files served as the basis for Adobe's PDF format and is quite amenable to on-the-fly editing.
